Born in 1993, Raúl da Costa is a regular guest soloist in the most prestigious halls in Portugal and in various halls Festivals throughout Europe, including the Konzerthaus Berlin, Palau de la Musica Catalana, Gulbenkian Foundation, Essen Philharmonie, Liszt Academy in Budapest, among many others.
He made his orchestral debut at the age of 12 in Casa da Música, Porto, and has since then played under the baton of conductors as Stefan Blunier, Antonio Pirolli, Theodore Kuchar, Johannes Klumpp, Joseph Swensen, Martin Andre, Álvaro Albiach, Vladimir Lande and with various orchestras as the Gulbenkian Orchestra, Porto Symphony Orchestra, the Janacek Philharmonic Orchestra, Deutsche Kammerorchester Berlin, the Siberian State Symphony Orchestra, the Folkwang Kammerorchester… Chamber music has also represented a main point in Raúl’s career, specially the collaborations with Anja Lechner, Daniel Hope, Bruno Monsaingeon and Christoph Poppen. In 2016, Raúl won the 1st Prize and unanimously the public prizes at the ZF Musikpreis International Award. Raúl is a scholar of the renowned Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe, the Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Foundation, and of the Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon. He has made live recordings for both Portuguese and foreign radio and televisions, such as for ARTE, Detusche Grammophon, the Deutschlandradio, NDR, SWR radios in Germany or Radio France. His live recording of Rachmaninoff’s 4th Piano Concerto with Porto Symphony Orchestra and Stefan Blunier was released on CD. Raúl profited of the work with distinguished artists such as Maria João Pires, Daniel Barenboim, Ferenc Rados, Dmitri Bashkirov, amongst others. The music of nowadays is also a priority in the programs of Raúl, having worked also together with composers as Valentin Silvestrov and Thomas Adès, or also adventuring in the works of Brad Mehldau, while receiving great compliments from the composer and jazz pianist himself. Raul studied in the Hochschule für Musik, Medien und Drama in Hannover, where he was part of the class of the renowned Professor Karl-Heinz Kämmerling and Prof. Bernd Goetzke, and also a part of the teaching faculty. Currently, he is the assistant of Prof. Kirill Gerstein in the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin. Raúl was appointed in 2018 Artistic Director of the Póvoa de Varzim International Music Festival, bringing to Portugal distinguished artists as Maria João Pires, Gidon Kremer, Artemis Quartet, Isabelle Faust, Paolo Pandolfo, Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin.
Concert pianist Andrey Gugnin is rapidly gaining international acclaim as a passionately virtuosic performer, who possesses an “extraordinarily versatile and agile technique, which serves an often inspired musical imagination” (Gramophone).
In 2020, the BBC Music Magazine Awards named Gugnin the winner of the Instrumental Award for his recording Shostakovich: 24 Preludes – Piano Sonatas 1 & 2 (Hyperion). Since winning the prestigious Sydney International Piano Competition in 2016, Gugnin has gone from strength to strength in concerts and recordings which exhibit his impassioned interpretations. In addition to winning in Sydney, Gugnin also received prizes at this illustrious competition for Best Overall Concerto, Best 19th/20th Century Concerto, Best Violin and Piano Sonata, and Best Preliminaries for his first-round recital. His also won the Gold Medal and Audience Award at the XCI International Gina Bachauer Piano Competition in 2014, and second prize at the 2013 Beethoven International Piano Competition in Vienna. Increasingly in demand as a concerto soloist, Gugnin has been invited to perform as a guest artist with notable orchestras worldwide, such as the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Mariinsky Symphony Orchestra, the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia, the Netherlands Symphony Orchestra, Utah Symphony, West Australian Symphony Orchestra and the Sydney Symphony, and has performed under the distinguished batons of Maestro Valery Gergiev, Jaap Van Zweden, Reinbert de Leeuw, Daniel Raiskin, Stanislav Kochanovsky and Asher Fisch. He has also collaborated in a more chamber context with the Asko Schönberg ensemble, Orchestre de Chambre de Genève, Jerusalem Camerata and Camerata Salzburg and on several occasions as the duo partner of violinist Tasmin Little. As a recording artist, Gugnin has published a broad scope of repertoire ranging from solo piano to symphonic works. His release of Liszt’s Transcendental Etudes (Piano Classics, 2018) were commended as Editor’s Choice, and distinguished Gugnin as “one to watch” (Gramophone). Other notable recordings include his duo programme with violinist Ioana Cristina Goicea (Atoll Records, 2019), an inspired selection of solo piano suites entitled Pictures (Steinway & Sons, 2016), and a collection of piano duets with Vadim Kholodenko (Delos International, 2010). Andrey has also extensively recorded for TV and radio in Russia, The Netherlands, Croatia, Austria, Australia, Switzerland and the USA. Currently Gugnin continues his collaboration with Hyperion Records. His latest album of complete Scriabin’s Mazurkas (2022) was awarded the Recording of the Month by Limelight Magazine. In addition to these recordings, Gugnin’s Shostakovich Concertos (Delos International, 2007) were selected to feature on the soundtrack of Steven Speilberg’s Oscar®-winning film Bridge of Spies. Gugnin’s expanding list of performance venues include Vienna’s Musikverein, Auditorio Nacional in Madrid, Victoria Hall in Geneva, Carnegie Hall in New York, Abravanel Hall in Salt Lake City, Sydney Opera House, the Great Hall of the Moscow State Conservatory, Mariinsky Concert Hall, the Louvre in Paris, Tokyo Metropolitan Art Space and Asahi Hamarikyu Hall. Gugnin has also participated in a plethora of international festivals, including Verbier, Klavier Festival Ruhr, Mariinsky International Festival, Dubrovnik Summer Festival, the Ohrid Summer Festival and the Duszniki Chopin International Festival. In 2020-21, as allowed by the covid pandemic, Gugnin embarked on performing numerous solo recitals at prestigious venues in Russia. Gugnin joined Tasmin Little in her farewell concert at the Southbank Centre as one of her four favourite pianists to collaborate with, which was broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 and for which Andrey was praised for his ‘emphatic, mesmerising playing’ (Bachtrack). The 2022/23 season is seeing Gugnin performing solo recitals across Europe, Asia and America, including Lithuanian National Philharmonic Hall in Vilnius and Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center in Salt Lake City, Utah and Seattle recitals as well as in Thailand, Koerner Recital Hall in Vancouver, at the Cziffra Festival in Budapest, at the Bard Music Festival in New York and Leamington Festival as well as in Tel Aviv Museum of Art. Gugnin is also showcasing a number of piano concertos in the 2022/23 season, including Ravel’s Piano concerto for the left hand with Danish National Symphony Orchestra, Rachmaninoff’s Piano concerto no. 3 with Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra and National Symphony Orchestra of Taiwan, Grieg Piano concerto with South Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, Rachmaninoff’s Piano concerto no. 4 with Armenian State Symphony Orchestra, Schumann’s Piano concerto with Tenerife Symphony Orchestra, Rhapsody on a theme of Paganini with Bulgarian National Radio Symphony Orchestra, to name few. As a chamber musician, he is actively performing with Andrei Baranov and Alexey Zhilin in trio, having a recital with Julian Rachlin and Sarah McElravy as well as performances with Roman Simovic, Milena Simovic and Antonio Meneses. In the season 2023/24, he will be return to the Bard Music Festival in New York, Husum Festival in Germany, having a recitals in Salzburg and Linz in Austria, a tour in Japan (recitals in Tokyo, Hiroshima and Takasaki and Rachmaninoff’s Piano concerto no. 2 with Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra), in Spain (Beethoven Piano concerto no. 5 with Orquesta Clasica Santa Cecilia in Auditorio Nacional de Musica in Madrid), recitals in Portugal, Singapore, Taiwan and Australia, where he will have a recitals in Sydney and Melbourne and will be acting as an artistic director of the OutWest Piano Fest.
Uladzislau Khandohi was born in October 7, 2001 in Minsk, Belarus, in a family of musicians, dulcimer players. He began piano lessons at the age of seven.
At 10, he received his first grand – prix (at the Mendzelevskaya Open City Competition for young pianists in Mogilev), and a year later he won the first prize of the Sviridov Competition for Young Performers in St. Petersburg. In 2013 the young pianist entered the Republican Music College of the Belorussian State Music Academy (class Irina Semenyako) In 2014 Vladislav won first prize at the second International Festival of Classical Music and Competition for Young Pianists “Astana Piano Passion” (Kazakhstan). This year he also was awarded first place at the International Competition “Nutcratcker” (Moscow, Rassia). 2016 – finalist of the prestigious Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition (Salt Lake City, USA). This year Vladislav recorded his first solo album. The album was presented by Melodiya. In 2018 Vladislav became a laureate of the II International Grand Piano Competition (Moscow, Russia). The pianist is a scholar of International charity fund of Yuri Rosum. Vladislav toured in the cities of Belarus, Russia, Spain, Italy, France, Switzerland etc. Since 2020 Vladislav is a student at Moscow State Conservatory (class professor Natalia Trull). In 2021 Vladislav received the first prize at XXXII Ferrol International Competition, Spain. In 2021 Vladislav received the first prize at the Sanremo second international Competition, Italy. In 2021 Khandohi received the first prize at the “LA PALMA D’ORO” international piano competition, Italy. In June 2022 Vladislav became a finalist of prestigious The Cliburn piano competition in Fort-Worth. In 2023 the pianist was awarded the 2 prize in Sydney international piano competition.
Born in Tokyo in 1989 to a Korean father and a French mother, Jean-Michel KIM grew up in Japan, studied at the music high school attached to the Tokyo Music University before leaving at nineteen for France to continue his studies at the Conservatoire National de Musique et de Dance de Paris.
He won the 1st prize at the 11th International Piano Competition of Lagny (2017), the piano prize at the 9th French Melody Interpretation Competition of Toulouse (2017) and the Pro Musicis prize (2019). He has played at the Nancyphonies Festival, La Prée Music Festival, Festival Piano au Jacobins, Festival Piano en Valois or Festival Piano en Saintonge. In Tokyo, he plays regularly in the concert halls very appreciated by music lovers: Toppan Hall, Yamaha Hall, Dai-Ichi Seimei Hall and Opera city Hall. As a chamber musician, he is highly appreciated and requested by important Japanese musicians such as violinist Mie Kobayashi, pianiste Haruko Ueda or clarinetist Seiji Yokokawa. Since 2010, he has formed a duo with violinist Keisuke Tsushima. The duo was awarded the Sacem Prize at the 10th Lyon International Chamber Music Competition in 2014. In 2016, violinist Keisuke Tsushima won the 12th International Music Competition of Romania and Jean-Michel received the Kariyazaki Shôgo Prize. The duo was a laureate of the Banque Populaire Foundation. Their CD “Recital at Opera city Hall” was highly reviewed by critics. In autumn 2023, he released a CD “Ivresse de l’Aube” on Klarthe label with the mezzo-soprano, Brenda Poupard on french melodies composed on ancient Japanese texts. Jean-Michel Kim obtained a master’s degree in piano at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris (CNSMDP) in the class of Jacques Rouvier and Hortense Cartier-Bresson. He completed his postgraduate studies in piano at the Universität Mozarteum in Salzburg. He also obtained a Bachelor’s degree in accompaniment, a Master’s degree in chamber music and a Master’s degree in vocal accompaniment at the CNSMDP. In May 2019 he obtained the Diplôme Supérieur de Concertiste de Piano from the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris in the class of Henri Barda. He worked as an assistant professor in the vocal class at the CNSMDP from 2018 to 2023.
Seunghyun Lee was born in 1994 in Gimpo (South Korea). Later he studied piano in Seoul with Prof. Young- Lan Han and with Prof. Peter Ovtcharov at Yonsei University.
He attended master classes with Pavel Gililov, Pascal Rogé, Claudio Martinez Mehner, Bernd Goetzke, Soo-Jung Shin and Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden, among others. He has received prizes at numerous competitions, e.g. 2015 Concours International de Piano d’Epinal (France), 2016 Prague Spring International Competition (Czech Republic), 2018 Neue Sterne International Piano Competition (Germany), 2021 Seoul International Piano Competition (South Korea), and 2022 Euregio Piano Award (Germany). As a solist, he has performed with the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, the Orchester national de Metz, the Euregio Chamber Orchestra, the orchestra of the Nordharzer Städtebundtheater, the Prime Philharmonic Orchestra, the Yonsei Symphony Orchestra and the Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra, among others. Since 2018 he has been studying with Kirill Gerstein at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin.
Xuanyi Mao is the rara avis of modern piano-playing. Her extraordinary talent and unique playing style, along with her quietly charismatic demeanor, have hit the international stage and incidentally have brought great honor to China.
In June 2023, at the 17th Tchaikovsky International Music Competition held in Moscow, she was supremely composed, playing her way to the finals, and winning fourth place in the Piano Section, the only Chinese to do so that year. Just a year previously, Xuanyi Mao, already a pianist of note, had stood out in the 1st Rachmaninoff International Competition held in Moscow in 2022, winning second prize and the silver medal in the Piano Nomination. A jury member of this competition, Vladimir Tropp, a distinguished artist from the golden age of the Russian piano school and one of the co-founders of the Rachmaninoff Association, said, “Xuanyi Mao’s overall performance in the competition was remarkable, showing great talent and musical interest. Her feeling and understanding of Rachmaninoff’s music matches those of Russian pianists, which really amazed and gratified me.” On July 12, 2022, Music Weekly published an interview entitled “Xuanyi Mao, a post-95 pianist, made the world see the new standard of Chinese pianists.” Xuanyi Mao is a doctoral student at the Central Conservatory of Music (CCOM) and has been selected for the “Best of the Best” project at CCOM. Currently, she is studying with Professor Danwen Wei, the head of the Piano Faculty at CCOM. In 2009, Xuanyi won third prize in the open group of the 15th Hong Kong-Asia Piano Open Competition (first and second prizes were not awarded). In 2010, she won third prize in the open group of the 1st Macau-Asia Piano Open Competition. In 2017, she won second prize in the National Piano Competition of Colleges and Universities. In July 2019, she was invited to record a demonstration performance for the piano grade examination of the Chinese Musicians Association. In October 2021, she reached the first stage of the 18th Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw. In June 2022, she won second prize and the silver medal in the Piano Nomination of the 1st Rachmaninoff International Competition in Moscow. In March 2023, as the only Chinese guest, she was invited to attend the International Scientific Symposium “S.V. Rachmaninoff and His Epoch” which was organized by the Russian National Museum of Music. In June 2023, she won the fourth prize in the 17th Tchaikovsky International Competition (Piano Section) in Moscow. She has also been invited to perform in the Great Hall of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, Warsaw Philharmonic Concert Hall, Romanian Athenaeum, Hong Kong City Hall, Macau Cultural Centre Concert Hall, Guangzhou Xinghai Concert Hall, Shenzhen Concert Hall, Xiamen Wuyuan Concert Hall, Theater and Golden Tree Hall of Shenzhen Concert Hall, Shenzhen Children’s Library Hall, Yichang Theatre, Beijing Steinway Horowitz Concert Hall, and others. She has performed piano concertos with orchestras such as the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia “Evgeny Svetlanov,” Central Conservatory of Music Symphony Orchestra, and Sichuan Conservatory of Music Symphony Orchestra. In recent years, she has been interviewed by a number of media outlets, such as Russian Culture, Polskie Radio, Guangdong TV, Macau Daily, Parsons Music, and Music Weekly.
Alexei Melnikov has come to international attention in 2019, where he received the Third Prize and Bronze Medal at the XVI International Tschaikovsky Competition in Moscow, one of the world’s most important musical events.
This recognition followed previous prestigious awards; Third Prize at the IX Hamamatsu Piano Competition, Japan’s biggest contest, chaired by Akiko Ebi and Martha Argerich where he performed in the finals Rachmaninov piano concerto No. 3 with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra conducted by Ken Takaseki. During that occasion the Japanese press wrote about Alexei`s performances: “He is a pianist who created a musical world of his own from the beginning and at each and every one of the stages through his unique sound and the repertoire he had chosen.” Another great success came at the San Marino International Piano competition in 2014, where Alexei became the winner of the First prize, the Audience Choice Award, Critics prize and Orchestra Prize. These awards have established him as an internationally active performer both as a soloist and as active chamber musician. Alexei performed with numerous orchestras, including Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, Moscow State Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, State Academic Orchestra “Evgeny Svetlanov”, San Marino Symphony Orchestra, St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra, Sochi Symphony Orchestra, Millennium Symphony Orchestra of Seoul, the Orchestra of Belgorod Philharmonic, Tomsk Philharmonic, Nizhny Novgorod Philharmonic, the Chamber Orchestra of Veliky Novgorod Philharmonic, Chamber Orchestra “Virtuosi di Praga”. Alexei has played recitals in many cities of Russia, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Italy, France, Japan, Argentina, Vietnam, Macedonia, Uruguay, USA, Austria, Spain, including venues such as Seoul Arts Center,Weill Recital Hall of Carnegie Hall, Mariinsky Concert Hall, Salle Cortot in Paris, Linz Brucknerhaus, Concert Hall Bunka Kaikan in Tokyo, Palace Žofín in Prague, Theatre “La Fenice” in Venice, the Grand Hall of the Moscow Conservatory … He participated in the International Chamber Music Festival in Cervo (Italy), The White Nights Festival, Platonov Arts Festival, Monschau Music Festival, Festival “Animato” in Paris, International Piano Festival in Trieste (Italy), “Opera Estate” in Bassano del Grappa (Italy), “Romantic Music Festival” in the Grand hall of Moscow Conservatory, “Heinrich Neuhaus” Festival in Moscow, Meeting Rimini Festival (Italy). At a young age Alexei began to take first steps in piano and composition. When Alexei was 6 years old, his parents brought him to the famous Gnessin School, where he spent next 12 years perfecting his playing under the guidance of Tatiana Shklovskaya. In the year 2008, he continued his studies at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory under the tutelage of the People’s Artist of Russia Sergei Dorensky, and his assistants – Nikolai Lugansky, Pavel Nersesian and Andrei Pisarev. He does not disregard masterclasses either: in 2018 he was invited to the Verbier Festival Academy, where he received the Neva Foundation Special Prize.

Yong-Gi Woo, originally from South Korea, began playing piano at the age of five. He successfully debuted his first piano recital at Kumho Art Hall in Seoul at age fourteen, and was accepted to study at Seoul Arts High School with Prof.
Soo Jung Shin and Ki-Jung Han. He continued his studies with Prof. Aviram Reichert at Seoul National University, earning a bachelor’s degree with the highest honors in 2019. He currently studies Konzertexamen at the studio of Prof. Evgeni Bozhanov at Folkwang University of the Arts. Yong-Gi has won numerous international competitions including first prize at the Suzhou Jinji Lake International Piano Competition, Hong-Kong Asia Open Competition, second prize at the prestigious Scottish International Piano Competition, Seoul International Music Competition, and semi-finalist at the Geneva International Competition in Switzerland. He also won first prize at the KBS KEPCO Music Competition in Korea, Köhler-Osbahr-Stiftung Competition, and Folkwang Prize in Germany. Yong-Gi has performed at various venues in Europe and Asia, including Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, Philharmonie Mercatorhalle, Seoul Arts Center, Kumho Art Hall, Kukje Art Hall, Elim Art Center, Alpensia Concert Hall, Yeul Maru, KBS Hall, and Hamamatsu Act City Concert Hall. His live performances have been featured on KBS, the national television station of South Korea. He has also appeared as a soloist with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Korean Symphony Orchestra, KBS Symphony Orchestra, Bucheon Philharmonic Orchestra, and Yeosu Philharmonic Orchestra. Furthermore, Yong-Gi has been the pianist for masterclasses by renowned masters such as Dame Fanny Waterman, Piotr Paleczny, Arie Vardi, Hiroko Nakamura, Tatiana Zelikman, Michel Dalberto, Michel Beroff, Hae-Sun Paik, Georg Friedrich Schenck, among others.
Born in 2000, Korea, Suah Ye started her international career as a concert pianist, winning the First Prize at the 9th International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians in Novosibirsk at the age of 15 and the First Prize at the 1st Arthur Rubinstein International Youth Piano Competition in Beijing.
In addition to that, she recently won the Fourth Prize at the XVII International Tchaikovsky Competition in 2023 and shortly after, she was invited to perform Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 1 at the Mariinsky Theatre with the Mariinsky Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Valery Gergiev. Suah has performed as soloist with numerous Orchestras such as Mariinsky Symphony Orchestra, State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia, Moscow State Symphony Orchestra, Novosibirsk Academic Symphony orchestra, Israel Symphony Orchestra, Presidential Orchestra of the Russian Federation and prominent national orchestras. She has been heard on such prestigious venues as Mariinsky Theatre, the Great Hall of the Moscow State Conservatory, the Great Hall of the St.Petersburg Philharmonic, Grand Kremlin Palace in Moscow, Seoul Art Center, Tel Aviv Performing Art Center, Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome, Beijing Forbidden City Concert Hall and the Carnegie Weill Recital Hall. Suah served as a jury at the 11th International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians in Moscow and as a junior jury at the 15th Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Competition in Tel Aviv. She has appeared on Korean Broadcast TV and Radio, Arte TV ‘Next in Classic’ and Israel TV program ‘Intermezzo with Arik’ and so on. She has studied with Soo-Jung Shin and Aviram Reichert in Korea and currently studies with Arie Vardi at the University of Music, Drama and Media Hanover since 2017.
